Privacy

Updated13 Aug 2026Version1.0English

This site records anonymous usage statistics so I can tell which work and writing people actually read. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and never tries to identify you.

No cookies, no tracking storage

Analytics here run cookieless. Nothing is written to cookies, local storage, or session storage, and no device fingerprint is taken. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, § 25 TDDDG does not apply and there is no consent banner to click. The one exception is the opt-out below: if you use it, a single flag is saved in this browser so the choice can be remembered. It contains nothing but that choice, and it is only ever written if you ask for it.

How visitors are counted

PostHog counts visitors with a hash of your IP address, browser, and a salt that is discarded and regenerated every day. The hash cannot be reversed, and after the salt rotates the same visitor is no longer recognizable. Your IP address is never stored.

What is recorded

Pages viewed, the site that referred you, your language and country, your device and browser type, and interactions such as outbound link clicks, contact form submissions, and how far through an article you read. Addresses are recorded without their query strings, so anything a link carries beyond the page itself is discarded before it is sent. Never your name, your email address, or anything you type.

Legal basis

Aggregate statistics are processed under legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f): I need to know whether this site works without building profiles of the people who visit it. You can object at any time under Art. 21 using the control below. Browsers sending a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal are excluded automatically, without needing to ask.

Processor and location

PostHog acts as processor under a data processing agreement. All data is processed on their EU infrastructure and is retained for twelve months. Requests are proxied through this domain, so no third-party connection is opened from your browser.

Contact form

What you send through the contact form is delivered to me by email through Resend and is kept only as long as needed to reply. It is never passed to analytics.
