Spot a software solution for tackling harassment and discrimination in the workplace with an AI reporting tool.
It asks open-ended questions and uses AI to gather more detail on things the user mention. The user can chose to keep that information as a private report for their records or submit it to their organization. If the user submits a report, Spot helps the organization to follow up while keeping the user anonymous.
My Role
In the summer of 2019, I joined the Spot team. I loved the vision behind the app and having the chance to work in a project that aligns with so many of my values was a very rewarding experience.
I worked on a range of different bug fixes and improvements for the core part of the app. Most of these contributions were done in the React codebase. Working on a large and existing codebase implied getting familiar with it fast as we were a small team and had tight deadlines.
I had the freedom to analyze usage stats and traffic to propose ways of improving usability and clarifying the app's message.
I also had the chance to brainstorm and implement a new accessibility menu which improved the experience for people using assistive technologies like screen readers.
